A Series of Unfortunate Events..........

dear readers,

if you have arrived at this blog expecting sunshine and flowers, smiles and laughter, or tales of joy, you are at the wrong blog entirely.......

here at cupcakes we are sadly suffering

poor, poor beanie, injured badly

this picture shows a tiny amount of the damage that has happened to my sweet girl. Just ask Mr Afterburn - he was there.........
picture this
the three of us and the four hounds all giddy with excitement at the chance of spending time together
running around the grounds of a beautiful empty house we had found, peeping through windows, discovering its own moat, battlements, gnarled trees, walled garden..........
the dogs frantically following the scent of yummy rabbits, rushing through bushes and trees
suddenly a cry
i turn to the boys and say - eekk - that is talullas cry ..... RABBIT FOUND

we carried on exploring waiting for the team to return with the catch of the day, they returned empty mouthed, which made me very happy.
we returned to the front of the house all rosy cheeked and watched as my girls run full pelt up and down the driveway
happy dogs and happy owners

then i noticed bean licking her front legs
licking and trying to remove the long strand of skin that was hanging down
she had managed to peel the skin from her tummy to all the way round her front leg, ending at her chest
gulp
straight in the car to the vet

our sweet girl has been stitched up and has antibiotics and homeopathic remedies coming out of her ears (the only part of her without a cut)
we think she got tangled up in bloody barbed wire inside the bushes, the cry i heard was probably not talulla but in fact beanie :(
i feel awful as i never risk my girls by letting them off to run free on land that i do not know and trust
foolish, foolish me
i must remember to always, always trust my instincts - i said halfway round that i should put bean on her lead as she was going slightly loopy ........
bugger

the other sadness is the departure of Mr Afterburn :(
this is all that is left of him.....

he is a very healthy eater, putting us to shame with his diet and exercise!!!
the house today is quiet - no smiley face as i look up from my laptop, nobody to drink the yuckky green lemon tea.....

come back soon Mr A - we miss you loads x

beanie would like Uncle Philip to know that she has managed to lift her bruised and battered head enough to play with her new toy

brought for the wee girl by her favourite Uncle after the scary accident

a girl can never have too many handbags!

this is Bean today
slowly working through the anaesthetic, eating, sleeping, little toilet breaks and nothing else

needless to say we did not visit puppers this weekend
as i type he is undergoing a test at the vets to confirm that he is healthy (liver shunt test - very important in Deerhounds that this test is done before you part with large sums of money)

we hope that we can bring him home at the weekend - but it will all depend on the little bean

heal quickly beanie x

Oh! Poor girl.

You have my every sympathy Miss Bean and feel that your reward for such bravery should be to choose a name for your new pal *whispers repetitively 'McDog, McDog'*

oh poor bean, it's awful when pets are injured, it's so hard for them to tell us how they are feeling. that handbag from Uncle Philip looks like it is making her feel better - hope he had a good visit, I think staying with you will be good for him. do you make all visitors drink yucky green lemon tea?

Hi, poor beanie...I aim clenching my teeth and wincing as I write. so squeamish. But she couldn't be in better hands. It must have been a big trauma.
But Pamper dog is on hand and sends Beanie a big kiss x also some haribos and jelly beans for her handbag xx (you'll have to read my blog..) well, irreverant humour is a great healer at a time like this....xx

Poor bean the girls send you hugs and kisses.
Molly cried out "oh no poor Bean" when she saw the photos but was happy again when she saw her playing with her new toy.
A extra big kiss from Molly X
Get well Bean there are bunnies with your name on them and a new little pup to show around and sniff out all the treats.
Hugs.

Poor, poor girl. What a horrid thing to happen. I too worry when my girl is off charging about the woods. One time she had a (very thick and sharp) bramble caught between her legs hidden in fur and by the time I found it she was cut high on both legs. You just can't always know what's around the corner. Don't be too hard on yourself.
I wish Beanie a speedy recovery and commiserations from Milly (aka The Moose) whose legs thankfully recovered without a visit to the v.e.t.

Oh no!!!! Miss Dog and I send our very best wishes to both Beanie and her most shocked and horrified Mummy. Miss Dog sends a gentle doggy lick to soft ears and would be happy to share a chewy toy on an occasion such as this. She has not managed to injure herself in her five years, however knows what a fright Mummy got when she stole a pincushion for doggy chase games (apparently pins and needles usually pass without incident, according to Dr Vet). You must all be feeling awful. Hope Bean is soon back to her lively self. I hope you're telling her stories of the exciting times she's going to have with the new friend that's coming to share her home. She'll be fit as a fiddle in next to no time - she won't want to miss a moment's fun!

As for the piano, yes it is hard. I can't read music, and even with the help of Piano books aimed at 3 month olds I think I'll have to have "proper" lessons!
