twelve :(

sadly Sunday morning our dear sweet tippy duck was put to sleep by our vet....
it was a huge shock to find tippy unable to walk as all was well at bedtime - we are devastated as you can imagine

tippy was one of the youngest Runners - all black with the most beautiful white tipped wings - hence the name...

a great sadness hangs over us as we start another week......

i guess thirteen was unlucky...

i am spending a lot of my time sewing as it takes my mind to a gentler place so hopefully i will have some new items to show you all very soon

and also a smile on my face

back soon dear friends

I hope you take some comfort in knowing you and the duck lady glad Tippy the best little life ever. But sometimes him up stairs has other ideas. And now he's waddling about up there in duck heaven making new friends.
Wishing all the best my lovely friend.

Oh dear... sorry to hear about Tippy.

That is the thing when you have lots of animals ...you also bury a lot!

I have been thinking about you recently as we have had a stray cat come to live at our house. We have six already and really did not want or 'need' another but after two weeks of 'Sammy' sleeping at our porch and greeting us every morning and every time we come home I have decided that if we do not find his owner in another two weeks he will be ours......and then there were 7!!

Good luck with the rest of your ducks. I love ducks. My Mum reminds me every now and then of her coming home from work one day to find ducks in our bath tub!! I also happen to have a soft spot for sheep and goats although never owned any.

I enjoy reading you posts and love all the photos especially the Sunday portraits!

Thanks for a good read!

It's heartbreaking when something like that happens. Last summer we had a partridge without a mate nesting in the garden, and I had a miserable couple of weeks watching her appear each day with one chick fewer - and one even died in my son's hand when we tried to rescue it after it was abandoned, because it was too ill to follow the family - I was miserable for weeks! But at least Tippy was cared for by you, and didn't die neglected.

I haven't visited in a while and find you have been so busy with new business and charity status too - well done, you've come so far since your move.

I'm sorry too about your duck sadness. I loved your post about choosing the ducks - of course you had to have them all - and I'm surprised to learn that you don't need a pond. There used to be a wildfowl sanctuary near Inverrary which we visited on our honeymoon back in 1993. Fabulous place with all manner of ducks and more. We were sad to see it had gone when we went back there with our daughter some years later.I've wanted ducks and chickens myself since that time - maybe one day! Bx
