jade

this weekend i have spent a long time thinking about jade goody and sending out thoughts to her and her sweet boys.....
yet another person struggling with Cancer, knowing that her final days are now and that she must say goodbye to all the folk that she loves
she has been on our screens and in our newspapers and magazines for quite a few years - a real household name - a "love her" or "hate her" type of celebrity.....
i have to say that i like her for her brashness, her spirit, her love of the limelight, and i am saddened that her time is almost over...
how she is managing to stay strong for her two beautiful babes is beyond me, the pain she must be in and the knowledge that she will not be there to protect them is beyond my understanding...
my heart goes out to her and i hope that she takes every moment that she has left and holds it close.
i for one am getting ready to make that doctors appointment, as are many, many other woman, a cervical smear is never a cheery moment in time but when you consider what you may be unaware of......
go phone now.
including YOU Dionne :)

the snow has now virtually all gone and we are left with a very wet and soggy field and yesterday we had a river flowing down the ditch at the back of our house - the plan is to dig this out at some point and run a short fence along its length (to keep out hungry hounds) - we will then add some ducks that will hopefully enjoy the rapids after the snow and the more leisurely stream on normal days!
the ponies are enjoying their first day back in the big field and are happily grazing.

as for me?
full of cold that was no doubt caught from the hot and stuffy coach which was full of folk coughing their miserable germs everywhere :(
i cannot face painting walls or moving furniture today so i have sat quieitly and completed a few orders....
one is for a collection of my wool brooches....

sadly they may soon have to be discontinued and put on the shelf with my wool bunting and woodland notebooks - where have all the reasonably priced wool blankets gone?
Jane also speaks of this problem ......
the days of popping in to charity shops and raking through the container marked "dog blankets" whilst thinking - there is no way my dogs are getting these - has gone :(
and the prices on Ebay are scary - it is no doubt due to a crafting fad which i for one hope will pass.

i shall leave you all today with some pictures of what my hounds get up to when it is just too darn dreary to play outside........

they know that this room will eventually contain sofa's and chairs and all manner of pretty things, and that they WILL have to stop using it as a whippet race track....
right?

t :)

unfortunately I am painting today, boring white, I can't wait to get on to the pretty stage of putting things in to rooms that I have squirreled away for an age knowing that one day they will take pride of place somewhere.

love jules xx

Hi Tracy

I've just left a message but there's an error so hopefully this one will load properly. Forget what I said, but something sweet about the boys and girls and a comment about the stream and ducks.

The main point was to say I have one (maybe 2) blankets at non-exorbitant prices if they would be of interest. Email me if so. Love the brooches.

I agree with you about Jade. She is one of those people who is annoyingly appealing. Her boys will look back and be able to seee just how much she fought for and loved them.
On the blanket front I do have a fairly good source of them the only sticking point is the postage but give me a shout if you really want some.I can't guarantee the colours but my local charity superstore always has a stash tucked away!

It would be very sad if you gave up making your bunting and notebooks because you can no longer buy blankets to make them. Can I suggest a modern alternative? Although I love felted wool, as a mum I have always liked my crafts to be more washable. I make many items in modern (and very washable) fleece. I know it isn't the same, and it does lack the nostalgia, but it does have a similar look, it is washable and it is quite green as it is made from recycled plastic bottles (which can only be a good thing).

Sometimes we have to compromise a little. Sad but true.

I do love your blog!

Hello, I thought its about time I introduced myself as I have been reading your blog for ages and have been meaning to leave some commments but couldn't work out how to until I had a blog of my own! I love the confessions of more dog acquisitions and impatiently await developments on the house! I'd just been thinking about Jade too, although I was never a fan, I do feel sad about it. It is so unusual to see someone go through this so publically, we usually only ever hear media stories about people that survive, and she is bringing some realism to something that affects many people. On a different note, good luck with the blankets, it is really tricky. I've only found one in the past few years! And as for woolly jumpers for felting, they seem quite extinct. Hope you find a source as the brooches are really lovely. I've been buying woollen fabric by the metre from a discount fabric shop, I always wait for the sales at the end of winter and stock up. I've been meaning to explore industrial felt as that comes uncoloured. Good luck with it.

Dear Tracy,
You have the biggest heart my sweet friend, bless you for writing about Jade, I'm sure the kind thoughts of lovely people like yourself will give her extra strengh to get through her last days.

I'll be looking in all our charity shops for old blankets, it would be a real shame for you to have to give up making your wonderful bunting, brooches etc...

We're loving the photo of the dogs with all their toys, who is it in the fabulous pink polka dot knickers, lol they look so cute.
Do they come in cat size lol our Megan would love a pair lol

Big hugs,
Catherine x

Tracy, are those fleece blankets any use? In my local garden centre they have them for about three pounds.

Very dramatic and shocking about Jade Goody and also interesting and meaningful that she has been in the spotlight in her young life possibly influencing people positively and shaking up others prejudices. (As well as her own evidently.) I really want to send her some of my scrapbooking exercises but not sure. Mementos to leave behind for little people....
I just had my CST result back and it was negative. The relief was palapable-especially as I had avoided it for a couple of years owing to the all the other invasive procedures I had to have.
In the event it did only take about 30 secs to have it done so I had been worrying about very little I guess.
I don't know how many toys those dawgs have but it looks like a lot-how spoiled are they?!
I usede to live with four Great Danes (I was only three-they were a bit large) and they each had a million toys and they had their own bedroom as it was a mansion.
It has kind of made me keep a good eye on my own toys nowadays :-))

I just had to comment as Jade has been in my thoughts and dreams bizarrly lately...I personally have always liked Jade - she is what she is - she is from where she is from - and she has worked her extended 5 mins of fame for the benefit of her and her family - it breaks my heart to think about those 2 little boys. I do hope that at least it shows young women that cervical cancer is real - it can happen to anyone...
sorry to barge in like this - hello!!

Hi, this is my second visit to your blog. It's really cool! I've been thinking of Jade too. Having been recently down the road of scans, blood tests etc which thankfully came back -tive, I have a small grasp of what she has been going through. My heart goes out to her family. Especially her boys. All sorts of things go through your mind when you are staring at your own mortality. For me it was the thought that I'd miss my boys growing up and they wouldn't have a mum when they need me most. As I said, I've been very very lucky, but boy does it make you re-think your life and feel so very very much for those who don't get the good news. Like Jade.
