mud, mud, glorious mud....

the snow has all gone - boo
it has left behind a whole lot of mud which quite frankly is just not as much fun.

the ponies are wading through it and i am in constant fear of mud fever, the dogs are tearing through it and then spreading it over the entire trailer......
the sheep on the other hand are coping remarkably well.

i am not coping with it - i try to ignore it - but every now and then i have a silent scream to myself.
i have stopped trying to clean it off the floor - we will just have to slop through it.....
the low point of the mud saga today is this......

my bed
mmmm
nice

i had today earmarked for cutting out my clean white linen Christmas hearts and stars....
maybe not

at least the sun is shining now and the ground is starting to dry out.
we have had the digger out making huge trenches for the waste pipes etc and we have started to look at ways in which to put this water to good use - we are the bottom field with a lot of fields and a large hill behind, so water is always going to gather
we got to thinking about who likes water the most....
why ducks of course :)
so here is the dilemma - we could create a pond and duck area between the small pony paddock and the house - it would mean looking out of our bedroom window on to ducks.
please can all you duck owners let me know if living that close to ducks would be a complete nightmare!
i am also having a complete nightmare about the thought of designing a pond - i am not the pond sort of girl.....

apart from all the water dramas the build is trundling ahead...
or so i am told
you see, dear readers, the reason i have not been able to present you with an update is that i myself have not seen the progress....
i have been banned from entering my own giant shed!!!!

Stephen wants me to wait until Saturday morning and then to come and see all the progress that has been made this week - so i shall go with trusty camera in hand.....
i have been asked to not peep through the windows or give the builders Chinese burns until they tell me what is going on......

at least i have a distraction...
talulla and bean are squabbling over a new bed

nothing new there, but the bed is not even theirs
this lovely, soft, warm Danish bed was purchased for our special O.A.P
to help Bracken cope with life in a cold trailer and to protect her skinny, bony body.....

when she gets the chance - she loves it x

That's the downside of snow isn't it, the mud always manages to stay for 10 times as long as the lovely white stuff :0(

In answer to your question about ducks, we have 3 Indian Runners and they are not at all noisy, but I think it depends on what sort you have.

Looking forward to your updated pics.

Gosh, how will you get those muddy footprints off? No.1 went on an activity trip with school, taking some gorgeous white jeans. They're ruined now :-( I just can't get the mud stains off.

Happy Halloween! x

Erk! Mud! I hate it when the blurry dogs jump on the bed, leaving mucky paw prints. The worst is when they dig the duvet to make it comfortable and I find bits of mud in there when I get into bed.

Hello Tracy. Such lovely pictures again and how cosy your little cat looks. Our eldest cat also looks incredibly skinny and actually rather awful, poor soul. Eats like a horse so can't be all bad, but you do feel for them in the cold don't you? Also feel for you with all that mud, you poor thing. Much love to you xx

Oh horrid mud! Don't let it get you down too much. I think it's really exciting that you're having to wait for the week to see the progress on the house. You're bound to see a big difference in a week which will be a good moral booster. Love the sound of the duck pond although have to admit I have never lived that close to ducks. I'm sure it would be very nice.

We have a pond near our house & have had ducks & geese in the past. The ducks can be nice if they stay by the pond, some of ours liked hanging around by the house & left lots of slimy duck poo around to step in. Mostly we liked the ducks, but the geese were a major pain, they're good watchdogs though!
