battening down the hatches........

the weather men all say that the North East coast of Scotland will be experiencing strong northerly winds tomorrow
quite gusty they say
no doubt i will feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz..........

and what have i done to prepare for the gales ahead i hear you ask?

nowt

i figure that i currently live in a house made of stone that has sat for many, many years in this exact spot
if it blows down tomorrow then we are just plain old unlucky.

my thoughts then turned to the fact that shortly i will be leaving this house made of stone that can withstand Scottish coastal weather at its worst, and moving to a house made of wood.....

my thoughts then turned from the wizard of oz to the three little pigs........

mmmmm

so if dear readers i do not put in an appearance tomorrow on the day that Bean becomes the grand age of two, then you will know that i have been blown over to Orkney.......

did someone say birthday cake.......

Aw, as a child in Orkney I used to worry about being blown across to the mainland in the high winds, in a Wizard of Oz style I think.

Well, here is to an early birthday wish for your beloved bean, and that you have an uneventful evening weatherwise.

Oooh, a house of wood - I look forward to seeing the pictures of that, it sounds wonderful.

As for the wind ... try charcoal biscuits ;-)

I hope you have survived the gales and are not having to post from Orkney:) It's been windy here too but not gale force.
Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Bean and I hope Tallula is still doing well and recovering quickly. Enjoy that birthday cake girls!

Happy Birthday to Bean! I hope that you are all tucked up cosy inside the cottage staying safe from the wind. The Wizard of Oz is still one of my favourite films but I still get slightly scared by the house flying through the air despite having watched it more times than I care to remember!

We live in a house made of wood which withstood the remnants of Tropical Storm Noel last weekend (which had actually become a NorEaster). House is still here (but I can't say the same for some of our big old oaks). =O

Happy Birthday, Bean!

as long as you stay away from the *straw* houses...and be on the lookout for wolves with enhanced lung capacity...you should be ok! :)
