Moving on

This house has been our home for so long.
It has kept us safe and dry and warm.
We have loved it and it has loved us right back.

We brought it when we were just 20 years old - fresh faced and so excited about having our first home, desperate to build a comfortable place to maybe one day have children, to invite friends and family to stay, but most of all a place to be together where we could shut the door on all the bad things that happen in our daily lives.

And that is what we have done - we have become all grown-up whilst living here, learnt that life can play nasty tricks on you but can also treat you kindly x

We will never have children in this house or any other due to complications with my insides,
but i do hope that the new owners of this wonderful, protecting, calm home will one day bring home babies of their own.

It is and always will be a house that wraps itself around its residents, shelters them from harm, and all it asks for in return is a little tender loving care.

I will miss you always my Sweet little cottage but it is time to move on and let you work your magic on someone else who needs you.

Oh Tracy you can really see how loved your home is from those photos and words! Our last house was our first one, we lived there for 18 years, one of our babies was born there and we thought we would never be happy anywhere else, but we are very happy here and we still have such fond memories of our first home. Think of all the lovely times your new home is going to offer you - I know it is so hard to say goodbye to your home.

Lovely home Tracy, sad to leave but you will have a new one that you will feel just the same about I'm sure...The cooler climate of Scotland sounds just what I need at the moment!

Tracy,
That must have been so difficult to write, my heart goes out to you. Onwards and upwards though, just think of all those deserted beaches for you to discover! Funnily enough I spoke to my friend who lives up in Thurso today, and was telling her all about you. She's a local girl, loves her crafts and knows all the best beaches! I must give you her number.
Take care,
L xxx

Your home is lovely Tracy, but think of the fun you'll have creating a new home in the cooler climate that you yearn for. Time to move on. And how brave to buy a house at 20! I didn't have the confidence at that age!

You have created a lovely home, no wonder it was snapped up by new people who will, no doubt, love it too. It's the memories that are hard to leave I think, all the happy times, sad times and just everyday times, but once you move on you discover the memories have all moved with you as they live in your heart.

It's so lovely to hear you speak so fondly of your home. That is really how a home should be. It really looks gorgeous but I have no doubt that you will create somewhere equally special in Scotland and I'm sure your current home will continue to care for it's new residents. They are very lucky to be taking care of it after you. .

Hi Tracy,
What a beautiful special home you have created and a beautiful post. Although sad at times to leave one chapter behind, you will always have your memories.... home is where your heart is and moving on is where your heart is leading you. Wishing you every happiness for all the future holds.

Good luck on the next leg of your journey through life.

Your new house will become a home before you know it and you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

As the saying goes 'home is where the heart is' and as long as you have each other and your dogs with you, you'll be fine

Hmmm just think of all that fresh air, space and all the beautiful views.

All best wishes Ginny

Hi Tracy,
I knw how you feel. When we moved from the first flat me and hubby shared we couldn't help the tears. All the beginning of our story together in there, so many memories that was hard for me to recover from.
But I am absolutely sure that your new house will be just as cosy and you will fill with new and wonderful memories to come.

What a beautifully written, heartfelt post Tracy. It must be so hard to be leaving such a gorgeous and cosy home - I'm not surprised that it sold as quick as a flash. I do though agree with what most people have written about home being where your heart is and your new place in Scotland sounds the perfect place to begin some new adventures and weave some new and magical memories. Good luck with everything and don't forget to take us lot with you when you go - we're coming along for the ride and we're all looking forward to seeing you work your magic on the new house and turn it into a beautiful home.

Your words are so beautiful and full of love for your home, your dreams, and your wishes for the future. It is a lovely home. May the new owners feel that love. You will create a new home with new memories and dreams. Open your new doors and don't look back at what might have been, but look forward to what can be. This something that I am trying to live by. Don't we all have so many dreams wrapped in a box when we are twenty. All the books, movies and dreams we just know are waitng for us. But as you put in life gives you a curve now and again and we all grow and learn from such events. All the best, thanks for sharing from your heart.

Wow - what a fab home!! Thanks for sharing the pics. It's bittersweet when you move but I wish you lots of happiness in your journey. Hope you enjoy Scotland - I'm not sure how far north you are going but it's a lovely place to live (I'm biased being from there originally!)

All the best,

What courageous words. I can see why you are sad to be leaving your lovely home but I think you're gonna have a great time in Scotland. How brave you both are! And, as Julie said in her comment, you won't get rid of us easily so make sure you get that internet sorted out pronto! We want to be with you every step of the way. Thank you for sharing so much with us.

P.S. I hope you are still going to have your website. Can't have your talent going to waste. Or will you be too busy with building?
