although the building starts on our plot of land next week - so how long we shall call this house our home i am not sure.
it has sea views on two side, and a view of the endless landscape (and LOTS of cows ) and a lighthouse on the other.
it is dry and warm and cosy....... but full to the brim of boxes that have had to be moved in from the garage as it has a leak!
the skies are endless, the sea so clean and clear and we are happy, happy, happy...........
this is the beach which is 5 minutes away from our door.
as you can imagine the girls just love it - although we do have a problem with them running up the dunes like billy goats and ending up on a golf course!
you can just see the girls in the distance.

i thought that the beach would be really busy as it is the school holidays but even when the sun is shining we are often the only folk to be seen.
it truly is just like a picture of some far away exotic island - the sea is blue and the sand is so fine.
we are lucky and cannot wait to share it with others....

but on to rather more pressing business - strange things that i have noticed about Scotland.
1. there are a lot of bakeries - which for me is heaven - but the cakes are different.
not different in a bad way - just different.
2. there are also a lot of lingerie shops - there will be nothing but a row of houses and then suddenly....... a window full of knickers!!
3. the fish and chip shops all seem to shut at 7pm??????
i am sure there will be more strange facts as i travel on this Scottish part of my life's journey.
tomorrow our second lorry of belongings will leave hawkhurst for its long trip north - inside will be two of our friends and their sweet little girl, so i must clean, move boxes and make beds
ohh..... and visit the bakery.

Beaches devoid of children and lots of cake shops - I'm packing my bags NOW.

The chips are the one thing (okay the one of 2 things, damned awful drivers being the other) that is wrong with Scotland - they fry the chips in Lard! now some people find this yummy but for me the one thing I miss is the chips down South! But hey it's a small price for all the loveliness of Scotland, Forfar Bridies are very popular up here and Arbroath Smokies, neither of which I'm taken with but the single malts have grown on me with a growing appreciation having visited numerous distilleries! Your cottage looks very lovely and yes the beaches are a secret delight!

Oh Tracy - you've found heaven. The beach is beautiful and the house is lovely - I'd love to look out of my windows at a beautiful landscape instead of other people's gardens (although I do have a view of the woods from one window) it must be refreshing to feel all that space around you. Glad to hear that you've got handy local sources for knickers and cake - shame about the fish and chips though - maybe everyone likes to get an early night!

Have you tried Scottish snowballs yet? They are different to the English ones. Very nice! I remember that some of the East coast bakeries sold Macaroni cheese pies. Yes, they sound revolting but are delicious. (I used to have a Scottish boyfriend many moons ago. The best thing about the relationship was visiting Scottish cake shops! oh dear!)
