a year....

a year ago today my family lost a very important, if not the most important member...
my dear Grandad....

he and my nana were the shining light in my childhood ,without them i would be very, very different...

he was a happy soul who loved his family so very much - family was everything....

i remember so many happy and precious moments ....

how he each and every night would ... fee fi fo fum up the stairs which would have me in hysterics...

how he let me from a very young age pick runner beans ....

how he and nana had one chest freezer containing food and another just for ice cream - not many grandparents have that!

i remember the special time we would share in the car collecting my nana from work - both waiting for our favourite person to appear, both grinning from ear to ear.....

he always made me feel safe

he always made me laugh

he always had a big round tummy

he always had hugs to give

he had mad out of control eyebrows

i thank him for making my childhood magical, for taking us to the beach, for caring for us all

i thank him for giving me my mama...

i thank him for everything...

Grandad.... i miss you each and every single day

Isn't wonderful having those kind of memories? I miss my Popeye. He was my maternal grandfather and my sister and I spent nearly every weekend with him and our Totty (grandmother)for years. He'd pick us up every Friday night after work and had little cakes for us as treats. Those weekends were the best in my life. He taught us gardening and Totty taught us to sew, cook and canning. He had a big round belly too and always tried to kiss us when he had shaving cream on his face. lol

That REALLY brought a tear or two to my eye! Such beautiful, heartfelt words and ones so personal.
Time will eventually heal the broken heart but our memories never fade.
Sending you a big hug! x

Beautiful, just beautiful words Tracy.
He sounded like a wonderful man.
He'll be looking down reading that and feeling so very, very proud.

With love and caring thoughts.
