poorly boy.....

one of our dear sweet lambs is poorly....
we raced him to the vets this morning in the back of the trusty Volvo after finding him writhing in pain :(
he has been given muscle relaxant, pain relief, various other drugs and a gut stimulant which we have dosed him with again tonight....
the vet does not know 100% what is wrong but top of the list at the moment is a case of colic possibly brought on by eating frozen grass... i find this hard to understand as in the sheep field the grass is so buried under snow and thick ice!

we have popped him in a hay filled sheep shelter where he has the comfort of a bed of his own but his mama, sister and friends can pop their noses through the gaps in the side... just so he knows that he is not alone.....
tomorrow, if he survives the night, we will return him to the flock as depression is a real issue with sheep - the sooner he is back in his normal routine the better...
think of our little man tonight and send all the good vibes you can...
i have spent the whole day outside fretting and i just know that it is going to be a long night......

Hi Tracy
I'm so sorry to hear you have a poorly sheep, I'm sending him healing vibes..... This cold weather really can cause problems with our animals..... my whippet cross has been feeling under the weather today, she likes the snow and when I take her out she has two coats on, but I think she is feeling the cold. She has been wrapped in a blanket under the radiator all day and seems to be feeling abit better tonight. They are a worry.
I will pop by tomorrow to check his progress.
Best Wishes
Julie
