... another thing i miss.....

since moving to Scotland i am sure that i have not seen a squirrel..... not even when walking the dogs in the forest
perhaps squirrels are not keen on coastal locations or Scots pine trees?

anyhoo

this thought kind of hung around in my mind and today i found myself avoiding *real* work and making squirrels instead....

my russety red chap with his velvet topped acorn will soon be followed by a glorious grey.....
i shall finish him in the morning as i plan on *avoiding* a little roofing!

What a sweetie.. Do you know T.. these lovely bushy tailed beasties of yours really take me back to my childhood when my mother made me a squirrel costume.. what else..for a school play. The tail was a work of art!

Bless them, what lovely looking chaps! I miss squirrels too, since we moved to our current house, I haven't seen a single one. I don't think there are enough proper trees around here, as most people have palm trees. We do have otters who live across the riverbank though, so I don't mind hugely. And the other week I saw five raccoons running through the garden. But apparently they're vicious.

Strangely I saw a squirrel on Monday in Blair Drummond Safari park and that is the first one I've seen up here. Last year while visiting the Far South I took the dogs for a walk in Greenwich Park. It was lovely, lots of people came up and stroked the dogs and asked about them and it was a glorious day. Until Henry saw his first squirrel which just happened to be a tame London one so didn't run away and I think the whole of London came to a standstill because of Henry's howling screaming barking at it! It was really funny but I honestly thought the RSPCA would be called because he sounded like he was being tortured!

I was in Scotland a year ago... and we saw a lot of quirells - though only in Edingbourg Botanic garden.. oddly enough..
My parents live at the country, but the only time I can remember seeing a squirrel in Denmark, was in Copenhagen Botanic garden..
