hay...... hopefully

this morning we had our field cut .....

the journey of this years hay begins....

last year we had it cut and baled by our wonderful neighbours but found that the large round bales were far too big for the amount of animals we have and so much was wasted - so this year we are embarking on the "make your own" small square bales

we are a little unsure how this will pan out so i am going to keep a daily diary here for future years reference, no doubt it will be a what not to do when making hay!

the weather forecast is looking good but it still feels as if it is a race against mother nature to turn and dry this grass out before the heavens open - which no doubt they will!
we are out turning the piles for as many hours as we can but in this weather it is proving very difficult - on the one hand this heat is fantastic for the drying but for us at the end of a pitch fork it is too much.....

so little and often is the key

when it all seems a little too much i just look back at the old wooden shed we call home and gaze upon this seat......

where this evening i shall be making more of these.....

lovely

My uncle had his hay cut this week but it's unusually cool this week. There's nothing like the smell of it in the air. i hope it gets dried out before baling

Hello Tracy,
What lovely deck chair, i'm sure it calls to you when it see you working so hard lol
Loving the little mouse, so cute.
Thank you again for being there and sending the love filled email. Sorry I've not got back to you. In a whirl wind of looking at crappy houses and coming back here feeling 10 times worse.
We're off to Featherdonw farm on Monday, so just forgetting it all until we come back and start again.
If it gets really crazy can we camp in your garden lol
Have a lovely weekend and week. Speak when we get back lovely lady.
Big hugs,

Cricket's really part of the gang now isn't he. Bet he can't wait to get on the table as well.

Thought you might like to know there's a grand mansion across the fields at the back of our cottage. They have peacocks which we hear a lot. They're at their loudest when they sit high in the poplar trees. I don't know if the swaying excites them or petrifies them.
