hay, hay, hay

the sun is shining and the grass is merrily turning to hay......

it is back breaking work that has left us both with blistered hands but smiles on our faces :)
......whilst others are just happy taking it easy!

today we listened to the wise words from our neighbour on how to get the best from our field - along with the words of wisdom came a generous loan of a hay fork and rake which has made turning the grass so much easier - we love pete!

we are still aiming for square baling on Monday/Tuesday depending on the weather - each forecast we look at is different so we are just carrying on regardless....

sadly the sea mist has enveloped us this evening on and off which is not good, but we will go to bed tonight hoping to wake up to bright sunshine...
fingers crossed

Oh my goodness! I have only done haying once and it is weary work to be sure. Nice to hear you still have smiles on your faces despite what must be sore muscles. Your views are lovely, as is your blog.
I wish you best of luck with the weather and bales.

Fingers crossed for you. I can smell the hay from here! Wonderful - the best smell in the world!

It looks so wonderful, imagine your satisfaction when you have a barn full of hay bales - immense I should think! It takes me back to my favourite books when I was a child "The Children of Cherry Tree Farm" & "Willow Farm" by Enid Blyton. All you need, post hay making, is a jug of lemonade & thick slices of chocolate cake, to have aloft a hay stack...... must stop day dreaming and keep packing boxes....! hugs Debs x

What a great feeling of achievement when you are feeding your lovely animals with the fruits of your labour!
