sunshine and heavy rain.....

the weather here is confusing at the moment.....

we can wake up to this.....

so we all run outside and do a little of this........

and then within a few minutes the black clouds roll in and we are all seen sprinting towards the house and the warmth of the Rayburn....

it makes my already haphazard day even more so - i see the sun and rush outside to carry on working on the veggie and cut flower garden, face turned towards the warmth of the sun....

and then suddenly i find myself piling on the layers and huddling near the only heat source in the house, scrabbling for position with all the dogs and cats!!

whilst inside i fiddle with a little knitting and a little sewing, and also a little furniture moving.....

another nook has items added...

how long it will stay is anyones guess as i find new items in boxes most days, but for now this old painted chest of drawers is the perfect home for beach treasures, binoculars and bird books....
i have become quite a twitcher since moving here - the land that runs in to the sea is a cliff drop of about 300 feet and is home to numerous sea birds which are amazing to watch but so very loud!
my current favourite bird visitor though has to be the pair of Oyster Catchers that mooch around the sheep field - such a treat x

the upside of all this rain, and boy have we had a lot, is that i am sitting inside enjoying a little hand sewing which i hope to share with tomorrow.....
unless it is sunny
and instead you will have pictures and tales from the ever evolving garden.....

I know how you feel - even down here in the South it is glorious and warm in the morning (when the wind drops) and then overcast and cold or raining for the rest of the day!

nice little 'nook':-))

If you think you have difficulties growing veg get this.... I have nursed a tiny rhubarb plant through so many tribulations, repotting, feeding, putting it under plastic.. until it finally became a healthy happy little being with promise- and then yesterday evening when doing my watering I noted that all three leaves had been cleanly bitten off. Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells :-((

Not too dissimilar here Tracy, though I think you may have had a little more rain.I'm something of a twitcher too and grew up being entranced by oyster-catchers which are one of my favourite birds. we have a pair of pretty goldfinches nesting in hte garden and Isabella loves the way they stand on her little table each day. xx

Tony calls that wake-up sunshine, great to get us out of bed and then it disappears. I love your dish of shells, I always have some in the garden along the edge of our patio. Cricket is so grown up too! Jane x

I love your seaside nook honey,
With the shells and bird books and your white painted chest of draws just look fabulous there in that sunny photo.

Isn't the weather doing the most crazest things, on Monday here in Rochester we had the worst rain fall for ages and thunder and lighting. I was out in it in our back garden trying to push all the flaming water back down the drian. It had got moved and was flowing out on our patio, coursing a very big swimming pool lol Argh! wasn't expecting that hehe!
Oh my and hale stones wow, how the hell did that happen? it was hot and sunny before the rain came! Crazy just crazy what is the big man up to up there.

Can't wait to see your sewing and veggie plot photos.

Speak soon lovely lady.
Love,
Catherine x

we are experiencing the same kind of weather here. it almost feels like the summer is already over... but wait ! the raspberries aren't ready yet !

the only good thing is that it never gets so cold that you need to change shoes.. just pile on a knitted jacket and keep playing, ignoring my frozen toes !

i love your shell collection. i wonder what it would be like to live by the sea.. it's something almost impossible to figure out for me, in this country where we don't have sea / ocean...
