in various states of undress....

as promised, a few pictures of our girls slowly self shedding....

on this ewe the first area to "peel" is the side...

this is great if only one side starts as the ewe could always stand against a fence thereby just showing the admiring tourists her "good side"......

sadly for some ewes this does not happen...
as seen here on our oldest girl......

she is looking more worn out than the others!
this may well be her last year of being a mama, we are thinking that she will just be the comfy grandma of the group next year....
in commercial farming she would have a good few years of breeding left in her but we feel that she has possibly had enough...

the first ewe to lamb is now almost completely hairless....

just a little more to go......

just a bit still hanging on......

i think it is because of the cold snap we had this past week - she has sensibly decided that what you need on a cold day is a wool shrug.....

just big enough to cover the shoulders whilst you go about your daily chores :)

there are of course those that look on with there full fleece still intact....
looking majestic....
slightly smug....

little do they know that they will have to face the shears in the not too distant future....

then this poor old girl can sit back, relax, enjoy being "naturally" hairless...
and look smug!

final picture today is of my most favourite lamb....

how pretty is she?

p.s... to those that are waiting for an invite to Sea House blog .....
i am gradually going through the list but i do
need an email address in order to send an invite and if there is not one shown on your blog then i have no way of inviting you :(
the good news is that i have had no time to update the blog so you are not missing anything at all :)
please rest assured that i am not ignoring you

Does the wool shed in clumps from the sheep and if so, do you collect it from the field? Are you planning on spinning the wool yourself or will you sell it?
Sorry I'm so full of questions - I'm just curious about the proocess.
The lamb is so cute.

I'm not sure if mine is on there. It's cathylsnyder@yahoo.com. The ladies are looking a bit shaggy. Have the neighbors been bothered by trespassers? Dogs don't understand trespassing..they understand a need to run! Ours have issues with the neighbors too but so far no complaints.

Do I take it that the last ewe was not in fact in lamb? And that my skills as a sheep whisperer are in fact zero since I was convinced there was a bebe in there...

Hope you don't mind, now that you have formally invited me to your sea house, I have deleated my last message as I am wary about having my email address up there for all to see- I get enough spam anyway!
So Thankyou for the invite, I have already been over for a peek and will be back soon.
Love the sheep and love the Cricket!
Love

Hi Tracy
Am I too late to ask for an invite?
I would so miss not seeing how Sea House develops. Like so many others I think this house build has helped me get over the fact that I won't get to build one for myself!
Love the way Cricket is turning out - a real boy dog.
