best seat in the house?

has archie cat got the best seat in the house i wonder......

he leaps from beam to beam in the roof space until he is as close to the window as he can be..... he then stares for hours at the passing wildlife and fishing boats....
what a wonderful way to pass the hours.....

he is always hugely pleased with himself after his spot of peeking :)

well, since my last post the weather has been wonderful.....
dry, warm and bright sunshine so i have been constantly pulled in to the garden - not to plant lovely flowers or veggies but instead to do battle with the docks.....
they truly are the most annoying weed - the choice of digging them up, long root and all or just hacking them down.....
i opted for the hacking :)
i guess if i just keep chopping them down it will eventually weaken the plant?
anyone else have any great ideas?
we do not use any chemicals here so weedkiller is not an option even though it would be so quick and easy....

today i must pop out some veggie plants that are growing out of their newspaper pots and fill the old tin bath with pretty flowers..... then of course i will do a little more hacking

inbetween lovely moments taming the wildness of our garden i continue to potter, moving treasures around, unpacking china goodies....

this old and rather lovely bookcase sits at the end of our kitchen and is currently holding a selection of blue china.....
i love the way that it is the first thing you see as you walk in - vintage loveliness!

sewing is once again relegated to the bottom of the pile with work that i had begun forgotten....
this may never turn in to anything - it may just languish in the pile with all my other half finished work.....

to be honest i feel as if i have stepped off the creative train and may not climb aboard again for awhile......

instead i shall take every dry day i can get and you will find me knee deep in chopped docks and happy hounds!

back soon

Well now- here is my solution to unwanted aliens in the garden. I should say I am a gardener of some years but remain at novice level. When I had *the worst* brambles you've ever seen in your life I dug them right up at the roots one woman-possessed afternoon. I then mixed up the strongest solution of cheap Tesco's table salt and the most boilingest water in the world and poured it into the spaces where the brambles formerly were. Result: no bramble ever darkened that space again (but the roses grow regardless) and it is two years plus on..
Try it if you dare. It is organic but it is also vicious :-))

What we call dock here is edible. My granny used it in wild greens that she cooked in the spring. I refuse to use chemicals too so it's a battle to fight everyday. My mom says the plants i put in will fill out the space and run the weeds out as they grow. I have only seen this wrok with mint and can'y get rid of it now.lol
The china looks great. It's all coming together.

Oh it sounds like heaven honey, just to be outside does wonders for the creative mind and you're be back on the sewing, knitting and crafting train once again soon.
It's good to have a break from it all and where better to be than out in your beautiful Seahouse garden.
I always think ,ud under the nails is the best look a country girl can have lol
I'm full of it when we come home from the allotment. Gardening and allotmenting is good for the soul. I'm full to brusting with ideas after a day out weeding or planting.
Ah weeds, the sign of good soil Ben says.
Maybe the puppers could give you a hand in digging the docks up. I bet they're the best diggers.
We're with you on not using any nasties. A good old dig and pull them up works best. I like having that job. You can really think of someone you don't like when doing it hehe! like ex's or moaning customers lol or my favourite one slugs, god they are a pain in the bum. We need chickens!
Happy digging lovely lady.
Loving the sneaky peek of what you have been sewing, it looks beautiful.
Love,

I forgot to say bless Archie, he is fabulous and looks so peaceful sitting up high on the beam.
And the china is beautiful, it all works together so well.
And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with more cake stands to open a shop with lol
What is a girl to do when you see one in a shop, wel you can't just leave it there! LOL
Hugs,

If I had that view I'd be right up there with the cat, of course my fear of heights could be a problem.

I've just found your blog and I'm really enjoying it, especially the photos of your dogs on the side bar. I have to look at them every time I pop in.

maybe a goat or two, not sure if they eat docks, I will ask a friend of mine who keeps goats and let you know. I have tried pulling them out it is impossible so enjoy your hacking for now.

Sounds like you're just swapping one creative thing for another. Hacking can be very creative.
