yay for thrifting!

so
here goes...
prepare yourselves for a picture heavy post......
got a cup of tea and a few biscuit?
good
then lets begin.....

first find is this rather beautiful coffee set - how wonderful is the colour?

want to see it on my dresser?

want another close up?

bee-yoo-tee-ful

the keen eyed amongst you may have noticed a pretty picture on the top shelf - well here it is...
with price tag still attached!

it is hard to see in this image but it is all hand painted and has the sweetest tiny birds, which is perfect for my evergrowing birdy collection....
a slight obsession with birds is building.......

yet more lucky finds....

tiny glasses with fruit decoration - perfect for holding a small tipple or a small posy of flowers :)

really unusual candle holders - so carefully made in the softest of colours.....

a pair of too good to leave behind tea towels that will never be used for drying dishes!

but the find of the week
nay - the year so far, has to be this cupboard.....

my mama was desperately trying to work out how to get it on the plane....
too much to go as hand luggage?

i love, love, love it, as does my mama :)
not only is it a very handy bureau it also has pretty leaded glass cupboards....

the dilemma is do i paint it?
do i keep it in the sitting room and use it as a display case for curio's?
nestled next to our huuuugggggeeee bookcase?

or do i wait and pop it in my studio and fill the shelves with pretty ribbons and vintage lace?
tricky, tricky, tricky........

a great thrifting haul which left us needing refreshments
tea and cake at our beautiful local harbour...

there are other treats and trinkets but i have been up since 3am this morning as our dear sweet half pint gave birth to our sixth lamb xx

so i shall leave the rest until another day when the bags underneath my eyes are not resting on my knees....

cheerio for now

i have a set of glass coasters that match the fruit glasses! same fruit and gold rim. shame you're so far from the US, as they are gathering dust waiting for yard sale/ebay.

Difficult decision to paint or not to paint ... I do think filling it with vintage lace etc could just be what it needs though ...

Congrats on lamb no 6!

Loving all those treasures, especially the coffee set, what a find. I think you should claim the bureau all as your own and fill it with haberdashery - glorious!

That cabinet is truly wonderful but where does the cover for the top go? does it flip back into the back? Paint or not to paint is really a quandry!

What a couple of thrifty ladies you are. Fabulous finds honey. Loving it all. And as for the beautiful cupbroad dilemma i think pop it in your studio and fill it to brushing with pretty fabrics, ribbons, wools buttons and lace. It is just waiting to keep it all safe and on display. Not sure about the painting it or not??? now that's the tricky question.
You new lambs are so cute. All sweet and fluffy lol i love their little tails, do yours wag them when feeding from their mummies?
Thanks for the little email sweet lady, i do hope you like all the extra bits i popped in, i have to treat because i can't just hop on a bus and see you anymore. Your my lovely friend that i so wish I'd know longer honey, but hey we have the phone, blog and email so all is good.
Right it's late, get some well earned rest honey and good luck with the last lamb.
Love,
Catherine x

dearest T,
i do not want to see that coffee set anywhere other than on my own kitchen side thank you very much, so we will have no more close up pics or anything please ;)

as to the dresser... i am chanting "paint it" "paint it" "paint it". it's just screaming out to be painted off white and the inside painted a soft duck egg blue or perhaps lined with vintage wallpaper... go on T, say it with me "paint it"!
