the toadstool, the hare and a badger...

the weekend passed with a mix of sunshine and showers, lemon cake making, sewing, and much, much fun and playing with the hounds - be it indoors or out....

Ghillie Mcdog would like to thank you all for your kind words about his handsome self.... and for those that have asked he is a fully fledged Scottish Deerhound - he is in fact the only true Scot living at Sea House!
Deerhounds are a massive breed of dog that truly are wonderful to have around - now - Stephen and i are Whippet addicts as is evident by the number that we own, but i have always loved the larger hound breeds too and when the news that a litter of Deer's were only just up the road we had to have a look and of course we gave in to temptation :)
now we own both breeds the differences are clear, they both will take what exercise is on offer but are generally a lazy lot - ours are happy as long as they have a mad sprint at least once a day, so anyone who has been put off thinking that these running dog breeds need lots of exercise can rest assured that they do not.
despite his size Mcdog is soooo gentle, he is loyal, our most obedient hound and would never knowingly hurt anything or anybody - the only time he causes me pain is when he suddenly decides to lean his body weight against me thus pressing me against a wall or worktop or when he steals from the worktop which he can rest his chin on!

would we have another Deerhound?
if one needed a home we would take it in in a blink of an eye, but we could not afford to purchase another - they are expensive.

whilst on the subject of the hounds.... Sue rightly pointed out that i had not officially named the new chaps....
so, today i give you

Badger

he is absolutely lovely and has become well and truly a member of the team :)
with the extra bit of weight that he has put on since he arrived he has also gained so much speed!
he is the fastest out of them all followed by the bean and miss moo - it is magical to see the ease at which he sprints x

i shall introduce you to Badger's best buddy next time

but that is enough doggy talk
on to crafty things......

a little sewing of items that will be available to buy direct, via Folksy or Not on the High Street...
they will also be added to my wholesale list...

Toadstool needle case.....

made using a piece of Vintage blanket, lined with green felt and inside two useful white felt pages for all those needles and pins.....

and staying on the sewing theme....

Hare Pin Cushion

again made from my most beloved Vintage wool blankets, Vintage green floral fabric, Vintage lace and a linen Hare....

they have both been such a joy to create and i have plans for so much more
sadly the alloted sewing time is becoming less and less as the days lengthen
there is so much to do outside and in,
but more on that soon
over at Sea House

I love the things you've made. Badger is gorgeous; I'm so attracted to b&w dogs, and whippets are one of my faves. I've got a b&w whippet mix myself - Princess - the love of my life, at my feet as I type.

Ha, I met a deerhound recently and leaning is exactly what he did, I guess it must be one of there little traits! I had to stand in a well braced position and try to carry on polite conversation with his owner while he took the weight of his feet! They are beautiful dogs though and I was secretly quite pleased that he thought me worthy of leaning on.

We have a Badger too! Ours is a working collies though who has decided to spend his life in luxury at our house, while is mother and grandmother work away on the farm! Hounds are my passion too, I've two just now and have had three others in the past, they are good dogs, big for protection, short hair for easy cleaning and small paws also for easy cleaning. And best of all they have a wicked sense of humour!
