October.......

we awoke on the first day of October with the fear that Betsy may take sail......

i have never seen so much rain fall from the sky, suddenly even tough boy Rodders took shelter.

but, despite the downpour i welcomed October in with open arms

for me the first day of October starts the run down until Christmas - yay x

i spent the day attempting to finish my darn website... almost there, but i did take time out to enjoy a little crochet and a browse through the CK catalogue

what to have, what to choose?

i also spent a ridiculous amount of time admiring my gull fabric - you see, my ikea fabric angel did well!!

i am thinking of covering an old armchair, or perhaps a blind for the utility room?

i also suddenly missed my collection of CL magazines when i came across this picture..

i just hope that they will survive the barn :(

i also sat and longed for my dear old Artichoke Cottage - the blazing open fire and the fact that October would be the seasonal change....

the blankets and eiderdowns, the willow hearts, baskets of pinecones and cinnamon.....
how i miss that sweet house.

It's OK to feel a little homesick for your old home once in a while. It'll pass - and just wait until your first warm fire in your wonderful new home.

I still miss the cosy-ness of our last cottage from time to time and the garden of the one before that, the views of Bath from the house before that, not a lot from the first house in Bath, but numerous things from the various houses I lived in in Northampton 20+ years ago.

But that old maxim 'home is where the heart is' is true!

Aww, that made me feel all sad as I can tell how much you loved your old home. But this time next year you will be in a pretty new home by the sea, with sheep and ponies outside your window, and a studio that you can call your own.

You'll have you're own rawing fire very soon and the smell of Christmas spices in the air, eiderdowns, blankets and hot totties to drink. And puppers to keep you're feet warm and cats to keep you're lap warm. Oh my it's sounds like the front of a Christmas card lol
Your old cottage is so beautiful no wonder you miss it but I'm sure the couple that bought it are enjoying it as much as you did and caring and loving it too. Hold on to you're happy memories sweetie and think ahead of the wonderful things to come, these will get you through the cold days and nights.
I hope you've woken to bright skies today and some sunshine, like we have.
Lots of love,
Catherine x

I know how you feel Tracy. I think if you are the sort of person whose home is part of her - and I am like that too - then you will always miss it, but you will also love your new one which softens the missing somehow. Just wait till you can start making it yours xx

So it is GOOD that Rodders has his shelter? Hooray!

I'm sure you're new house will be just as lovely.

Wow love those tin boxes, and the fire - A REAL fire. It is sad missing houses, but the new one will have favourite spots.
